Overview
PROJECT: Absolute Beginner's Chunky Knitted Scarf
DURATION: Approximately 6-8 hours of knitting
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
Get started on your knitting journey with this simple, speedy, and supremely cozy chunky knitted scarf! This pattern is perfect for beginners who are eager to learn the basics of knitting while creating a fashionable winter accessory.
Materials
- Yarn: 2 balls of Bulky yarn (Recommended: 100% wool) - 135 yards / 123 meters per 3.5 oz / 100g ball (Imperial) | 55 meters per 50g (Metric)
- Needles: 15mm (US 19, UK Old 000) knitting needles
- Scissors and a large-eye needle to weave in ends
Instructions
- Cast on 13 stitches.
- Row 1-3: Knit all stitches. This will form the Garter Stitch pattern.
- Continue to knit all the rows until the scarf reaches your desired length. Keep some yarn for binding off and fringe, if desired.
- Once you've reached your preferred length, bind off all stitches.
- Using a large eye needle, weave in all the loose ends.
- Optional: Add fringe to each end of the scarf. Cut lengths of yarn (around 8in/20cm), fold them in half, thread the loop through a stitch on the end of the scarf, then thread the ends through the loop and pull tight to secure.
