Using black yarn, cast on 60 stitches.
Row 1: Knit across.
Row 2: Purl across.
Repeat Rows 1-2 until piece measures 5 inches from cast on edge.
Next, knit 12 stitches, bind off the next 36 stitches, knit remaining 12 stitches.
Working on last 12 stitches, continue in stockinette stitch for 3 more inches.
Bind off.
Sew side seams together.
Count 1.5 inches from each side seam and sew a vertical line 1.5 inches long for each ear hole.
Using yellow yarn, embroider a small Batman emblem on the front of the helmet.
Weave in all ends and trim excess yarn. Place helmet on cat, ensuring ears fit through holes.
