Blossom Baby Blanket

Overview

This Blossom Baby Blanket pattern is perfect for new and experienced knitters alike, with an easy to follow pattern that produces a beautiful, timeless blanket. The design is based on a simple checkerboard pattern, accented with a delicate blossom stitch. Suitable for a baby's cot or pram.

Materials

• 5 balls of Aran weight yarn (776m/848 yards total), preferably in a soft, easy care acrylic or cotton blend. The sample was knitted in a soft pink color.
• A pair of knitting needles. US size 8, UK Old Size 6 or 5mm metric.
• A Crochet Hook. US Size G-6, UK Old Size 8 or 4mm Metric.
• A yarn needle.
• Scissors.

Instructions

Cast on 115 stitches.
Row 1: Knit all stitches.
Row 2: Knit 5, *purl 5, knit 5* repeat to the end.
Row 3: Knit all stitches.
Row 4: Knit 5, *purl 5, knit 5* repeat to the end.
Row 5: Knit all stitches.
Repeat Rows 2 - 5 until the blanket measures about 90cm/35 inches.
To finish, bind off all stitches and weave in the ends.
Crochet Borders: With 4mm crochet hook and the same yarn, attach yarn to corner and single crochet around the edge of the blanket. Do 3 single crochets in each corner stitch. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.
