Bubble Stitch Hat Pattern
This pattern will teach you how to make a cozy and stylish bubble stitch hat. The bubble stitch creates a fun textured pattern that is sure to catch the eye. Let's get started!
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (UK Aran) yarn
- Needles: 5 mm (US 8) circular needles and double-pointed needles
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

Instructions:
Cast On
Using the circular needles, cast on 88 stitches.
Ribbing
Join the round and place a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round. Work in a 2x2 rib pattern (knit 2, purl 2) for 1.5 inches (3.5 cm).
Bubble Stitch
Switch to stockinette stitch. Work the bubble stitch pattern as follows:
- Row 1: Knit
- Row 2: Purl
- Row 3: *K1, p1, k1, p1, k1 into the same stitch to create a bubble; repeat from * to the end of the round
- Row 4: Purl

- Round 5: *K6, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (55 stitches remaining)
- Round 6: Knit
- Round 7: *K5, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (44 stitches remaining)
- Round 8: Knit
- Round 9: *K4, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (33 stitches remaining)
- Round 10: Knit
- Round 11: *K3, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (22 stitches remaining)
- Round 12: Knit
- Round 13: *K2, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (11 stitches remaining)
- Round 14: Knit
- Round 15: *K1, k2tog; repeat from * to the end of the round (6 stitches remaining)
Finishing
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle and slip the needle through the remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the top of the hat. Weave in any loose ends.
