Christmas Stocking with Name Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply) in main color and contrasting color for name
- Needles: US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) straight knitting needles
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cast on 60 stitches in main color.
- Work in stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for 8 inches.
- Knit 15 stitches, place marker, knit 30 stitches, place marker, knit last 15 stitches.
- Continue in stocking stitch for 4 more inches.
- Decrease row: Knit to 2 stitches before marker, knit 2 together, slip marker, knit 1, repeat across row.
- Repeat decrease row every other row until 6 stitches remain between markers.
- Knit 1 row even.
- Next row: Knit 2 together across row.
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread through remaining stitches and pull tight.
- For cuff: With contrasting color yarn, pick up stitches along the top edge of stocking.
- Work in K1, P1 rib for 4 inches.
- Bind off all stitches.
- To add name: Using tapestry needle and contrasting color yarn, embroider the name onto the stocking.
