Classic Shawl Collar Vest Knitting Pattern

Instructions:
- Back: Cast on 76 (84, 92, 100, 108) stitches. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 14 (14.5, 15, 15.5, 16) inches from cast on edge, ending with a wrong side row.
- Left Front: Cast on 38 (42, 46, 50, 54) stitches. Work in stockinette stitch for 6 rows. Next row (RS): Knit 18 (20, 22, 24, 26) stitches, place marker, knit to end. Continue in stockinette stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures same as Back to shoulder, ending with a wrong side row.
- Right Front: Work as for Left Front, reversing shaping.
- Join Front and Back: With RS facing, work across Right Front, place markers for armholes, work across Back, place markers for armholes, work across Left Front.
- Shape Shoulders: Bind off 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) stitches at beginning of next 4 rows. Bind off remaining stitches.
- Collar: With circular needles, pick up and knit stitches along Right Front, Back neck edge, and Left Front. Work in 2x2 rib for 6 rows. Bind off in pattern.
- Finishing: Sew side seams. Weave in ends. Block garment to measurements.
