Abbreviations

• k: knit
• p: purl
• C6F: slip 3 stitches onto cable needle and hold at front, knit next 3 stitches, then knit 3 stitches from cable needle

Instructions

1. Cast on 40 stitches.
2. Row 1: *k3, p3; repeat from * to end of row.
3. Row 2: *p3, k3; repeat from * to end of row.
4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the scarf measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.
5. Row 3 (wrong side): *k3, p3; repeat from * to end of row.
6. Row 4: *p3, k3; repeat from * to end of row.
7. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the scarf measures 12 inches from the cast-on edge.
8. Row 5 (wrong side): *k3, p3; repeat from * to end of row.
9. Row 6: C6F; repeat from * to end of row.
10. Repeat Rows 5 and 6 until the scarf measures 70 inches from the cast-on edge.
11. Repeat Rows 1-4 once more.
12. Bind off all stitches.
13. Weave in loose ends using a tapestry needle.
