One size fits most adults. Finished hat circumference: approximately 20-22 inches (50-55 cm).
Cast on: Using the long-tail cast on method, cast on 88 stitches.
Ribbing: Work in a K2, P2 ribbing pattern for 1.5 inches (4 cm).
Body: Begin working the cable pattern as follows:
Round 1: *K2, P2, C4F; repeat from * to end of round.
Round 2: *K2, P2, K4; repeat from * to end of round.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2: Continue repeating Rounds 1 and 2 until the hat measures approximately 6.5 inches (16 cm) from the cast-on edge, or desired length.
Decrease rounds:
