Knitting Pattern: Cozy Braid Sweater

Description:

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply)
• Needles: US 8 (UK old: 6, Metric: 5mm) for main body, US 10 (UK old: 4, Metric: 6mm) for braids
• Cable needle
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:

18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Sizing:

This pattern is written for sizes S (M, L, XL). Finished bust measurements approximately 36 (40, 44, 48) inches.

Instructions:

1. Cast on 90 (100, 110, 120) stitches using main needles.
2. Work in 2x2 ribbing for 2 inches.
3. Switch to main cable pattern:
   Row 1 (RS): K3, *C6F, K6, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, K3.
   Row 2 (WS): Purl across.
   Repeat these 2 rows for cable pattern, continue until piece measures 12 inches from cast on.
4. Begin braids:
   Switch to larger needles.
   Row 1 (RS): K6, C6B, C6F, repeat to last 6 stitches, K6.
   Row 2 (WS): Purl across.
   Row 3: Repeat row 1.
   Row 4: Purl across.
   Continue these 4 rows for braid pattern, work for 4 inches.
5. Knit in cable pattern for 8 more inches.
6. Work in stockinette stitch for 2 inches.
7. Bind off all stitches.
8. Sew side seams and weave in ends.
