Crochet Bat Pattern


Our nocturnal friend, the Crochet Bat, is an adorable project that works up fast! It's perfect for Halloween decorations or just to bring a touch of whimsy into your home. The pattern is designed for intermediate level crochet artists who are thoroughly familiar with the basic crochet stitches.


Materials Needed:


Pattern:


Bat Body (Make 1):

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic circle (6)

Round 2: 2sc in each stitch (12)

Round 3: (1 sc, 2 sc in the next st)*6 (18)

Round 4–8: sc around (18 for 5 rounds)

Round 9: (1 sc, dec)*6 (12)

Round 10: dec around (6), then FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears (Make 2):

Row 1: Chain 4.

Row 2: sc in second chain from hook, hdc in next, dc in last, then FO. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Wings (Make 2):

Ch 10, turn. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (9).

Continue, working in rows of 9 sc, for 2 more rows.

In 4th row, decrease at the beginning and end (7 sc).

In the 5th row, work even.

In 6th row, decrease again at the beginning and end (5).

Finally, FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Attach the eyes to the bat’s body, sew together the body, ears and wings using the embroidery needle and then fill with polyfill.
