Fancy Cabled Cowl Pattern

Size

One Size: 24 inches / 61 cm around and 13 inches / 33 cm tall.

Materials

• 300g of bulky weight wool yarn (size #5 or 12-15 ply). Recommended: Cascade Eco Plus.
• US Size 10.5 (6.5mm) UK old size 3, or to get gauge cabled knitting needles.
• Cable needle.
• Tapestry needle.

Gauge

One repeat of pattern (24 stitches and 32 rows) creates a 4x4 inch / 10x10cm square.

Pattern

CO 144 stitches with long tail cast on.

• Row 1 (RS): *K4, P4, repeat from * to end of row.
• Row 2 (WS): *P4, K4, repeat from * to end of row.
• Continue these two rows 4 more times for a total of 5 ribbed rows.
• Row 6: *Cable 4 front (slip 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, knit next two stitches, then knit the stitches on the cable needle), P4, repeat from * to end of row.
• Repeat steps of row 1-5

Continue these six rows until cowl reaches desired height and ending with a Row 4 or Row 2 repeat. Bind off loosely in pattern. Seam short ends together with a mattress stitch using the tapestry needle. Weave in loose ends & your cowl is ready to wear or give as a gift.
