Father's Day Beanie Knitting Pattern

Gauge

Size

One size fits most men. Beanie circumference will be approximately 21 inches (53 cm).

Instructions

Cast on 88 stitches using circular needles.

Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern (k2, p2) for 2 inches (5 cm).

Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) and work until the beanie measures 7 inches (18 cm) from the cast on edge. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round.

Begin decreasing:

1. Round 1: *K6, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (77 stitches remaining)
2. Round 2: Knit all stitches
3. Round 3: *K5, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (66 stitches remaining)
4. Round 4: Knit all stitches
5. Round 5: *K4, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (55 stitches remaining)
6. Round 6: Knit all stitches
7. Round 7: *K3, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (44 stitches remaining)
8. Round 8: Knit all stitches
9. Round 9: *K2, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (33 stitches remaining)
10. Round 10: Knit all stitches
11. Round 11: *K1, k2tog* repeat to the end of the round (22 stitches remaining)

Switch to DPNs when necessary.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the tapestry needle, slip the remaining stitches onto the needle, and pull tight to close the top of the beanie.

Weave in any loose ends and block the beanie to ensure the stitches lay flat.
