Pattern Instructions:

Size: S (M, L, XL)

Body:

Using US 9 / UK 4 / 5.5 mm circular knitting needles, cast on 150 (170, 190, 210) stitches.

Work in Fisherman Rib stitch until the piece measures 18 (18, 19, 19) inches from cast on edge.

Ribbing:

Switch to US 8 / UK 4 / 5 mm circular knitting needles.

Work in Fisherman Rib stitch for 2 inches.

Button Enclosure:

Continue in Fisherman Rib stitch, but add a buttonhole every 2.5 inches.

To create a buttonhole, work to the stitch where you want the buttonhole, and then:

Continue until you have completed the desired number of buttonholes.

Hood:

Switch to US 10 / UK 3.25 / 6 mm circular knitting needles.

Work in Fisherman Rib stitch for 12 inches.

Pockets:

Mark the placement for the pockets on each side of the jumper.

Using scrap yarn, provisionally cast on 25 stitches for each pocket.

Work in Fisherman Rib stitch for 7 inches.

Transfer the pocket stitches onto a stitch holder or scrap yarn.

Repeat for the other pocket.

Finishing:

With right sides facing, sew the sides of the jumper from the bottom up to the armholes.

Place the hood at the neckline, right sides together, and sew along the top edge.

Sew the pocket edges to the sides of the jumper.

Weave in any loose ends and block the jumper if desired.

Sew buttons onto the button enclosure, aligning them with the buttonholes.

Abbreviations:
