Flowy Circle Skirt Pattern

Materials:

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch using US Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles

Size:

One size fits most. The finished skirt has an elastic waistband that is adjustable.

Pattern:

  1. Cast on 180 stitches onto your circular needles.
  2. Join the round, being careful not to twist your stitches.
  3. Work in stockinette stitch (knit every round) for 10 rounds.
  4. Switch to a lace stitch pattern for the body of the skirt. You can choose any lace stitch pattern you like, or follow the example pattern below:
Round 1: *K2tog, yo; repeat from * to end of round.
Round 2: Knit all stitches.
Round 3: Knit all stitches.
Round 4: *Yo, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
Repeat Rounds 1-4 until the skirt measures approximately 10 inches (25cm) from the cast on edge.
  1. After completing the lace pattern, switch back to stockinette stitch and continue knitting for another 5 rounds.
  2. Bind off all stitches loosely.
  3. To finish the waistband, fold over the top of the skirt approximately 1 inch (2.5cm) and secure with a row of crochet stitches using the US Size H-8 (5mm) crochet hook.
  4. Thread an elastic band through the crochet stitches to create a waistband that fits comfortably.
  5. Weave in any remaining loose ends and your flowy circle skirt is complete!
