Heart Print Scarf Knitting Pattern

Materials:

• Yarn: Light Worsted Weight Yarn (UK: Double Knitting, AU: 8 ply) in 2 contrasting colors.
• Knitting Needles: US 8 (UK 6, 5mm)
• Tapestry Needle

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

Heart Motif (make 5):
Using Color A, cast on 5 stitches.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K1, M1, knit to last stitch, M1, K1. (7 stitches)
Rows 3-5: Repeat Row 2. (11 stitches)
Rows 6-7: Knit.
Row 8: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches, k2tog, K1. (9 stitches)
Row 9: Knit.
Row 10: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches, k2tog, K1. (7 stitches)
Bind off.

Scarf:
Using Color B, cast on 40 stitches.
Knit 5 rows in garter stitch (knit every row).
Work Row 1 of heart motif, then knit 10 rows in garter stitch.
Work Row 2 of heart motif, then knit 10 rows in garter stitch.
Repeat heart motif rows until all 5 hearts are complete.
Knit 5 rows in garter stitch.
Using Color B, bind off all stitches.
Weave in ends and block the scarf to finish.
