Houndstooth Skirt Knitting Pattern

Description:

Create a stylish houndstooth skirt with this intermediate level knitting pattern. This classic pattern will add a touch of sophistication to your wardrobe.

Materials:

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (US), Aran weight yarn (UK), 10ply (Metric)
• Needles: US 7/4.5mm, UK 7, Metric 4.5mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

20 stitches x 26 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch

Size:

Adjustable waist size. Sample shown fits size Medium (32-34" waist)

Instructions:

1. Cast on 160 stitches.
2. Work in ribbing (K2, P2) for 2 inches.
3. Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures 18 inches from cast on edge.
4. Begin houndstooth pattern:
   Row 1: *K2, P2, K4, P4; repeat from * to end.
5. Continue in houndstooth pattern for 6 inches.
6. Switch back to stockinette stitch and work for another 4 inches.
7. Work in ribbing for 2 inches.
8. Bind off all stitches.
9. Sew side seam.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends and block the skirt to measurements.
