Japanese Style Hat Knitting Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply) in your color choice
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, Metric 4.5mm) and US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) double-pointed needles

- Stitch markers
Gauge:
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch with larger needles
Instructions:
- Using smaller needles, cast on 80 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker at beginning of round.
- Work *K2, P2* ribbing for 1.5 inches.
- Switch to larger needles and knit in stockinette stitch until hat measures 6 inches from cast on edge.
- Begin crown decreases as follows:
- K8, K2tog, repeat around.
- Knit all stitches.
- K7, K2tog, repeat around.
- Knit all stitches.
- Continue in this manner, decreasing 8 stitches every other round until 8 stitches remain.
