Knitted Fingerless Gloves Pattern: Screwdriver Inspired
These knitted fingerless gloves are perfect for keeping your hands warm while working with tools. Inspired by screwdrivers, this pattern features a unique textured design that adds an extra twist to your usual fingerless gloves.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (UK Aran, Metric 10 ply) - 100g/3.5oz, 200m/220yd
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, Metric 4.5mm) double-pointed needles
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
24 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch
Pattern:
Thumbless Glove (Make 2)
- Cast on 32 stitches.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
- Work in a K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches/5cm.
- Switch to stockinette stitch.
- Work even in stockinette stitch until the glove measures 5 inches/12.5cm from the cast on edge.
- Next Round: K2, P2, K2, bind off 2 stitches, K2, P2, K2, bind off 2 stitches, K2, P2, K2, bind off 2 stitches, K2, P2, K2, bind off 2 stitches, K2, P2, K2 (24 stitches remaining).
- Continue working in K2, P2 ribbing for 1 inch/2.5cm.
- Bind off all stitches in pattern.
Assembly:
- Weave in any loose ends.
- Using a tapestry needle, seam the sides of the gloves, leaving an opening for the thumb. The opening should be approximately 2 inches/5cm long and centered.
Finishing:
Once the gloves are assembled, try them on and adjust the thumb opening if needed. You can also add decorative buttons or embroidery to enhance the screwdriver-inspired design.
