Knitted Vest Pattern

Materials Required
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran weight) - approximately 500g
- Knitting Needles: US size 8 (UK 6mm)
- Circular Knitting Needles: US size 6 (UK 4mm)

Gauge
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)
Pattern Instructions
Back
- Using the larger knitting needles, cast on 80 stitches.
- Work in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for 16 inches (40 cm).
- Bind off all stitches.
Front
- Using the larger knitting needles, cast on 40 stitches.
- Work in stockinette stitch for 16 inches (40 cm).
- Next row (right side): Knit 20 stitches, bind off the next 20 stitches, knit the remaining 20 stitches.
- Continue working on the two sections separately.
- For the left section, knit 1 row, purl 1 row for 5 inches (13 cm). Bind off all stitches.
- For the right section, purl 1 row, knit 1 row for 5 inches (13 cm). Bind off all stitches.
Assembly
- Using the tapestry needle and matching yarn, sew the shoulder seams of the front and back pieces together.
- Using the circular knitting needles and matching yarn, pick up stitches along the armholes.
- Work in rib stitch (k1, p1) for 2 inches (5 cm).
- Bind off all stitches.
- Repeat the same steps for the other armhole.
- Weave in any loose ends.
