Pattern Name: Knitted Ear Warmer
This pattern will guide you through creating a cozy knitted ear warmer to keep your ears warm and stylish during the colder months.
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK: Aran, Metric: 10 ply)
- Needles: US size 8 (UK size 6, Metric size 5mm) circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Size:
One size fits most adults, approximately 20-23 inch head circumference
Instructions:
- Cast on 96 stitches.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
- Place a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
- Ribbing: Knit 2, purl 2, repeat until the end of the round. Continue in this ribbing pattern for 1.5 inches.
- Main Pattern: Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) and continue until the ear warmer measures 3 inches from the cast on edge.
- Decrease Rounds: Knit 5, ssk, knit until there are 7 stitches left in the round, k2tog, knit 5. Repeat this round for a total of 8 decrease rounds.
- Finishing: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the tapestry needle and carefully slide the needle through the remaining stitches, removing them from the needle. Pull tight to secure and weave in any loose ends.
