Knitting Chart Hat Pattern
This knitting pattern features a cozy hat with a beautiful cable design. The pattern includes both written instructions and a knitting chart for the cable section.
Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran, Metric 10 ply)
- Needles: US 8 (UK 6, Metric 5mm) 16-inch circular needles and set of US 8 double-pointed needles

Gauge
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Instructions
Cast On and Ribbing
- Using the circular needles, cast on 96 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beginning of round.
- Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing for 1.5 inches.
Cable Pattern
Follow the knitting chart for the cable pattern:

Crown Shaping
- Continue in cable pattern until piece measures 7 inches from cast on edge.
- Begin crown shaping:
- Round 1: *Knit 6, knit 2 together; repeat from * around.
- Round 2: Knit all stitches.
- Round 3: *Knit 5, knit 2 together; repeat from * around.
- Round 4: Knit all stitches.
- Continue decreasing in this manner until 8 stitches remain.
Finishing
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the crown.
- Weave in ends and block the hat to shape.
