20 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
Child (Adult Small, Adult Large)
Cast on 80 (90, 100) stitches in grey yarn. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker at beginning of round.
Knit in the round in stockinette stitch for 5 (6, 7) inches.
Begin shaping the top of the hat as follows:
Round 1: *K8, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
Rounds 2-6: Knit all stitches.
