Lace Yoke Sweater Pattern
Pattern Overview
This pattern will guide you through creating a beautiful lace yoke sweater. It features a delicate lace pattern on the yoke, which gives it a feminine and elegant look. The rest of the sweater is worked in a simple stockinette stitch, making it a perfect project for both beginner and intermediate knitters.
Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (Approximately 500-800 yards/450-730 meters)
- Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles and double-pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Instructions
- Cast on 120 stitches using the circular needles.
- Work in a 2x2 rib stitch pattern for 1 inch (2.5 cm).
- Switch to stockinette stitch and continue until the piece measures approximately 7 inches (18 cm) from the cast-on edge.
- Slip marker and begin working the lace yoke pattern.
- Lace Yoke Pattern:
Row 1: *K2tog, yarn over, repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2: Purl all stitches.
Repeat these two rows until the lace yoke measures approximately 4 inches (10 cm). - Switch back to stockinette stitch and continue until the sweater measures approximately 16 inches (40 cm) from the cast-on edge.
- Begin the decreases for the sleeves on the next round:
Rnd 1: K2, k2tog, knit to last 4 stitches, ssk, k2.
Rnd 2: Purl all stitches.
Repeat these two rounds every 2 inches (5 cm) 3 more times. - Continue working in stockinette stitch until the sweater measures approximately 20 inches (50 cm) from the cast-on edge.
- Begin the ribbing for the hem:
Work in a 2x2 rib stitch pattern for 1 inch (2.5 cm). - Bind off all stitches loosely.
