Large Adult Male Beanie Pattern
This pattern is designed for a large adult male head size and will be knit in the round using 5.5 mm (US 9, UK 5) circular needles.
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200-220 yards)
- Needles: 5.5 mm (US 9, UK 5) 16-inch circular needles and double-pointed needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Instructions:
- Using long-tail cast on, cast on 88 stitches onto your circular needles. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker for beginning of round.
- Work K2, P2 ribbing for 1.5 inches.
- Begin stockinette stitch (knit every round) until the hat measures 7.5 inches from the cast on edge.
- Decrease rounds:
- Round 1: *K6, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round
- Round 2: Knit all stitches
- Round 3: *K5, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round
- Round 4: Knit all stitches
- Continue in this manner, knitting 1 fewer stitch between decreases each decrease round until 8 stitches remain.
- Break yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight to close the hole, and secure on the inside of the hat.
- Weave in any remaining ends.
