Newborn Christening Gown Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Fine weight (2) yarn in white or ivory color. Recommended yarn: 100% cotton.
- Needles: US size 4 (3.5mm) / UK size 9 / Metric size 3.5mm

Gauge:
28 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

Body:
- Cast on 168 stitches
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches
- Place marker to indicate the beginning of the round
- Work in stockinette stitch (knit every round) for 1 inch (2.5 cm)
- Switch to lace pattern:
Round 1: *K2, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2
Round 2: Knit all stitches
Round 3: Knit all stitches
Round 4: Knit all stitches
Repeat these 4 rounds until the body measures 10 inches (25 cm) from the cast on edge, ending with Round 4.
- Work in stockinette stitch for 1 inch (2.5 cm)
- Bind off loosely
Sleeves (make 2):
- Cast on 42 stitches
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches
- Place marker to indicate the beginning of the round
- Work in stockinette stitch for 0.5 inches (1.3 cm)
- Switch to lace pattern:
Round 1: *K2, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2
Round 2: Knit all stitches
Round 3: Knit all stitches
Round 4: Knit all stitches
Repeat these 4 rounds until the sleeve measures 4 inches (10 cm) from the cast on edge, ending with Round 4.

Finishing:
