One Color Beanie Knitting Pattern
Stay warm and stylish with this one color beanie knitting pattern. This pattern is suitable for knitters of all levels and will knit up quickly to create a cozy and comfortable beanie.
Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards / 183 meters)
- Needles: US size 8 (5mm) and US size 9 (5.5mm) circular needles (16-inch / 40cm long) and US size 9 (5.5mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs)
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch using US size 9 (5.5mm) needles.
Size
This pattern is written for an adult size beanie. The finished circumference is approximately 20 inches (51cm) and will stretch to fit most adult heads.
Instructions
Using US size 8 (5mm) circular needles, cast on 88 stitches.
Ribbing:
- Round 1: *K2, P2, repeat from * to end of round
- Repeat Round 1 for 2 inches (5cm)
Switch to US size 9 (5.5mm) circular needles.
Body:
- Knit every round until the work measures approximately 7 inches (18cm) from the cast-on edge.
Decrease Rounds:
- Switch to US size 9 (5.5mm) DPNs when necessary.
- Round 1: *K6, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (77 stitches remaining)
- Round 2: Knit all stitches
- Round 3: *K5, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (66 stitches remaining)
- Round 4: Knit all stitches
- Round 5: *K4, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (55 stitches remaining)
- Round 6: Knit all stitches
- Round 7: *K3, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (44 stitches remaining)
- Round 8: Knit all stitches
- Round 9: *K2, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (33 stitches remaining)
- Round 10: Knit all stitches
- Round 11: *K1, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round (22 stitches remaining)
- Round 12: K2tog to end of round (11 stitches remaining)
Cut the yarn, leaving an 8-inch (20cm) tail. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle, slip the remaining stitches onto the needle, and pull tight to close the top of the beanie.
Weave in any loose ends, and your one color beanie is complete!
