19 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch
Using the long-tail cast on method, cast on 3 stitches.
Knit all stitches.
K1, YO, knit to end of row.
K1, YO, knit to last stitch, YO, K1.
Continue repeating Rows 2 and 3 until you have reached a desired shawl size or have approximately 20% of your yarn remaining.
Switch to the feather lace pattern:
Row 1 (RS): K1, *[YO, SSK] 3 times, YO, K1, K2tog, YO; repeat from * to last stitch, K1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl all stitches.
