Pigeon Themed DK Weight Knitted Vest Pattern

Materials
- DK weight yarn (approx. 500-600 yards)
- US size 6 (4mm) knitting needles
- US size 4 (3.5mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
22 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) with larger needles.

Instructions
Back
- Using the larger needles, cast on 80 (90, 100, 110) stitches.
- Work in stockinette stitch for 12 (14, 16, 18) inches.
- Next row: Bind off the center 32 (34, 36, 38) stitches for the neck.
- Continue working each side separately.
- Next row: Bind off 2 stitches at the neck edge once.
- Repeat the previous row every other row 4 more times.
- Work even until the armhole measures 6 (7, 8, 9) inches from the cast-on edge, ending with a wrong side row.
- Bind off all stitches.
Front
Work the same as the back until the armhole measures 4 (5, 6, 7) inches from the cast-on edge. Place the next 24 (26, 28, 30) stitches on hold for the neck.
Right Front
- With the right side facing, rejoin yarn to the remaining stitches.
- Next row: Bind off 2 stitches at the neck edge once.
- Work even until the armhole measures the same as the back, ending with a wrong side row.
- Bind off all stitches.
Left Front
Work the same as the right front, reversing all shaping.
Assembling
Using mattress stitch, sew the shoulder seams. Sew the side seams.
Pigeon Motif
To add the pigeon motif, choose a contrasting color yarn and embroidery it onto the front of the vest using duplicate stitch or surface embroidery techniques. You can use the included chart as a guide for the pigeon design.
Finishing
Weave in all loose ends and block the vest to measurements.
