The finished size of the doilie is approximately 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter.
Note: This pattern uses US crochet terminology.
Round 1: Make a magic ring, chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet here and throughout), 15 double crochet into the ring. Pull the tail of the magic ring to tighten. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 3. (16 stitches)
Round 2: Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch. 2 double crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 3. (32 stitches)
Round 3: Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch. *Double crochet in the next stitch, 2 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 3. (48 stitches)
Continue the pattern as follows:
Round 4: Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch. *Double crochet in the next 2 stitches, 2 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 3. (64 stitches)
Round 5: Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch. *Double crochet in the next 3 stitches, 2 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 3. (80 stitches)
Repeat this pattern, increasing by 16 stitches in each round, until the doilie reaches the desired size.
Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends. Block the doilie to shape if desired.
