Poppy Pattern Sweater
This sweater features a beautiful poppy pattern that will add a touch of elegance to your wardrobe. Follow the instructions below to create your own poppy pattern sweater.
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in red, green, and black
- Knitting Needles: US 8 / UK 6 / 5mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
20 stitches x 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Poppy Pattern:
Row 1 (RS): With red yarn, knit all stitches.
Row 2: Purl all stitches.
Row 3: K1, *k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 4: Purl all stitches.
Row 5: Knit all stitches.
Row 6: Purl all stitches.
Row 7: K1, *k2tog, yo twice, k1, yo twice, ssk, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 8: Purl all stitches.
Repeat these 8 rows for the poppy pattern.
Instructions:
- Using red yarn, cast on multiples of 20 stitches for desired width.
- Work in stockinette stitch for 5 rows.
- Begin poppy pattern and alternate between poppy pattern rows and stockinette stitch rows.
- Continue until desired length, ending with 5 rows of stockinette stitch.
- Bind off and weave in ends.
- Repeat for back of sweater.
- Join front and back at the shoulders using mattress stitch.
- Attach sleeves and sew up side seams using mattress stitch.
- Finish neckline and bottom edges as desired.
