Ribbed Unisex Beanie Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (UK: Aran, AU: 10 ply) in your choice of color - 200 yards (183 meters)
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, 4.5mm) and US 8 (UK 6, 5mm) 16" circular needles, US 8 (UK 6, 5mm) double-pointed needles
- Tapestry needle, stitch marker
Gauge:
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in ribbing stitch pattern
Finished Measurements:
Adult Medium: Circumference 20 inches (51 cm), Length 9.5 inches (24 cm)
Instructions:
- Using US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles, cast on 88 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker at beginning of round.
- Round 1: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round.
- Repeat Round 1 until piece measures 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) from cast-on edge.
- Switch to US 8 (5mm) circular needles.
- Continue in K2, P2 ribbing until piece measures 7 inches (18 cm) from cast-on edge.
- Crown Decreases:
- Round 1: *K2, P2tog; repeat from * to end of round (66 stitches).
- Round 2: *K1, P2; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 3: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 4: *K2tog, P1; repeat from * to end of round (44 stitches).
- Round 5: *K1, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 6: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (22 stitches).
- Round 7: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (11 stitches).
- Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the beanie.
- Weave in ends and block to shape, if desired.
