Ribbed Beanie Pattern
This pattern creates a simple and cozy ribbed beanie that is perfect for beginners.
Materials
- Yarn: Medium weight yarn (UK: Aran, AU: 10ply), approximately 200 yards (183 meters)
- Needles: US 7 (UK 7, 4.5mm) and US 9 (UK 5, 5.5mm) double-pointed needles or circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in rib stitch using larger needles

Instructions
- Using smaller needles, cast on 80 stitches
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches, and place marker at the beginning of the round
- Round 1-10: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of round
- Switch to larger needles
- Round 11-25: Knit all stitches
- Begin decreasing:
- Round 26: *K6, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round
- Round 27: Knit all stitches
- Round 28: *K5, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round
- Round 29: Knit all stitches
- Continue in this manner, knitting 4, 3, 2, and 1 stitch(es) before each decrease round until 8 stitches remain
- Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight, and secure. Weave in ends.
