Rose Sweater Pattern
This pattern will guide you step by step to create a beautiful and cozy Rose Sweater. Get your needles ready and let's start knitting!
Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran) - approximately 600g (21 oz)
- Needles: US size 8 (UK size 6, 5mm) straight knitting needles

Instructions
- Using the long-tail cast on method, cast on 120 (130, 140, 150, 160) stitches.
- Row 1 (Wrong side): Purl all stitches.
- Row 2 (Right side): Knit all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for 2 inches (5 cm).
- Switch to stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) and continue until the work measures 14 inches (36 cm) from the cast on edge.
- Next row (Right side): Knit 60 (65, 70, 75, 80) stitches, place marker, knit 10 stitches, place marker, and knit to the end of the row.
- Continue in stockinette stitch, knitting the stitches between the markers and purling the rest of the stitches, until the work measures 16 inches (41 cm) from the cast on edge.
- Shape the armholes:
- Row 1 (Right side): Knit to 2 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, slip marker, knit 1, slip slip knit, knit to the end of the row.
- Row 2 (Wrong side): Purl all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 three more times.
- Continue in stockinette stitch until the work measures 19 inches (48 cm) from the cast on edge.
- Shape the neckline:
- Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 33) stitches, slip them onto a stitch holder or scrap yarn, bind off the next 50 (56, 62, 68, 74) stitches, knit to the end of the row.
- Working on the remaining 25 (27, 29, 31, 33) stitches, knit every row for 2 inches (5 cm), then bind off.
- With the right side facing, rejoin yarn to the stitches on hold, knit every row for 2 inches (5 cm), then bind off.
- Finishing:
- Seam the shoulders together using the mattress stitch or your preferred seaming method.
- Pick up stitches around the neckline using the smaller straight needles, and knit 1 row. Then bind off.
- Seam the sides and underarm together using the mattress stitch or your preferred seaming method.
- Weave in any loose ends and trim excess yarn.
