Sailor Dress Knitting Pattern

Materials:

Gauge:

20 stitches x 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Sizes:

Pattern is written for sizes 6 months (12 months, 2 years, 4 years).

Instructions:

Using smaller needles, cast on 90 (100, 110, 120) stitches. Work in rib stitch for 1 inch.
Switch to larger needles and stockinette stitch. Work until piece measures 10 (12, 14, 16) inches from cast on edge.
Shape armholes: Bind off 6 (7, 8, 9) stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each armhole every other row 3 (4, 5, 6) times.
Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures 15 (18, 21, 24) inches from cast on edge.
Shape collar: Knit 18 (20, 22, 24) stitches, place marker, knit 36 (40, 44, 48) stitches, place marker, knit to end. Work in garter stitch for 4 rows.
Next row: Knit to marker, pick up and knit 18 (20, 22, 24) stitches along collar edge, knit to next marker, pick up and knit 18 (20, 22, 24) stitches along collar edge, knit to end.
Work in garter stitch for 4 more rows. Bind off.
Sew buttons along one side of collar.
Weave in ends and block garment to measurements.
