Sea Potato Knitting Pattern

Materials

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in any color you prefer
• Knitting Needles: US size 7 (4.5mm)
• Tapestry needle
• Polyfill stuffing

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

• K: Knit
• P: Purl
• K2tog: Knit two stitches together
• Rep: Repeat

Pattern Instructions

Base

1. Cast on 6 stitches.
2. Row 1: Knit across.
3. Row 2: Purl across.
4. Rep Rows 1-2 until you have 16 rows in total.
5. Row 17: Knit 2, *k2tog, k2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2. (4 sts)
6. Row 18: Purl across.
7. Row 19: Knit across.
8. Row 20: Purl across.
9. Rep Rows 19-20 until you have 8 rows in total.
10. Row 29: Knit 2, *k2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2. (2 sts)
11. Row 30: Purl across.
12. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for seaming.

Sides

Pick up and knit 10 stitches along the side of the base.

• Row 1: Knit across.
• Row 2: Purl across.
• Rep Rows 1-2 for 20 rows in total.
• Repeat the same steps for the other side.
• Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for seaming.

Top

Pick up and knit 6 stitches along the top of the base.

• Row 1: Knit across.
• Row 2: Purl across.
• Rep Rows 1-2 for 10 rows in total.
• Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for seaming.

Finishing

With the wrong side facing, sew the sides of the sea potato using the mattress stitch.

Leave a small opening and stuff the potato with polyfill stuffing.

Close the opening using the mattress stitch.

Weave in any remaining yarn ends.

Finished Dimensions

The sea potato measures approximately 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches in height when stuffed.
