Sock Pattern with Eye of Partridge Heel Flap

Materials:
- Yarn: Sock weight yarn (150-200 yards/50g)
- Needles: US 1 (2.25mm) / UK 13 / Metric 13
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
32 stitches x 40 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Pattern:
- Cuff: Cast on 64 stitches using the long-tail cast on method. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1.5 inches.
- Leg: Knit in stockinette stitch until the leg measures 5 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Heel Flap: Row 1 (RS): *Sl1, K1; repeat from * to end. Row 2 (WS): Sl1, Purl to end. Repeat these 2 rows 15 more times, or until the heel flap measures 2 inches.
- Turning the Heel: Row 1: K19, SSK, K1, turn. Row 2: P5, P2tog, P1, turn. Row 3: K6, SSK, K1, turn. Row 4: P7, P2tog, P1, turn. Continue in this manner, working one more stitch each row until all heel stitches are worked, ending with a purl row.
- Gusset: Pick up and knit 17 stitches along the edge of the heel flap. Knit across the instep stitches. Pick up and knit 17 stitches along the other side of the heel flap. Knit half of the heel stitches. These are now the beginning of the round.
- Foot: Knit all rounds until the foot measures 1.5 inches less than the desired length.
- Toe: Round 1: K to last 3 stitches on needle 1, K2tog, K1. On needle 2, K1, SSK, knit to end. Repeat for needle 3 and 4. Round 2: Knit all rounds. Repeat these 2 rounds until 32 stitches remain. Then, repeat round 1 until 8 stitches remain. Cut yarn, leaving a tail, and graft the toe stitches together using Kitchener stitch.
