Squid Themed Knitted Cowl with Tentacle Edging

This pattern will guide you through creating a fun and whimsical squid themed knitted cowl, complete with tentacle edging. Let's dive right in!

Materials

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Size

One size fits most. Finished cowl measures approximately 24 inches in circumference and 8 inches in height.

Instructions

  1. Cast on 150 stitches.
  2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
  3. Knit in the round in stockinette stitch (knit every round) until the cowl measures 7 inches from the cast on edge.
  4. Tentacle Edging:
    1. Switch to a double-pointed needle for this section.
    2. Divide the 150 stitches evenly onto four double-pointed needles (37 stitches per needle).
    3. Working with one needle at a time, knit three tentacles by knitting 2 together (k2tog) repeatedly until there are only 3 stitches remaining on the needle.
    4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining three needles.
    5. Bind off all stitches.
  5. Weave in any loose ends and block your cowl if desired.

Finishing

Once you have completed the tentacle edging and woven in any loose ends, your squid themed cowl is ready to wear! Wrap it around your neck for a cozy and playful accessory that is sure to turn heads.
