Striped Tote Bag Pattern
This pattern will guide you through creating a stylish and versatile striped tote bag.
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in 3 coordinating colors
- Color A: 200g (7 oz)
- Color B: 150g (5.3 oz)
- Color C: 100g (3.5 oz) - US 8 / UK 6 / 5mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
16 stitches x 18 rows = 4 inches in single crochet
Finished Size:
Approximately 15 inches (38 cm) wide x 12 inches (30 cm) tall
Instructions:
- With Color A, chain 61.
- Row 1: Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, single crochet across. Chain 1, turn.
- Rows 2-10: Repeat Row 1.
- Switch to Color B.
- Rows 11-20: Repeat Row 1.
- Switch to Color C.
- Rows 21-30: Repeat Row 1.
- Repeat color sequence (A-B-C) until piece measures 24 inches.
- Next row: With Color A, single crochet across. Fasten off.
- Fold the rectangle in half with right sides together. Join sides with single crochet stitches using Color A.
- Attach Color A to the top edge and single crochet around the opening.
- Handle: With Color B, attach yarn to one side of the bag. Chain 70, skip 10 stitches, and attach to the other side. Single crochet around the chain, join to the bag, and fasten off.
- Weave in all ends and enjoy your new striped tote bag!
