Level: Intermediate
Size: Approximately 36" x 72"
4" = 14 stitches and 8 rows in double crochet
Round 1: Start with a magic loop, ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into the loop, sl st to first dc to join (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, sl st to first dc to join (18 dc)
Continue to increase in this manner, adding 6 stitches per round until you have a half circle.
Once you have reached the desired size for the sun, switch to a sky-colored yarn and work in turned rows of dc to create the sky around the sun. You can create arches using front post or back post stitches to give it a textured look.
Continue in pattern until the blanket reaches your desired length.
Fasten off and weave in ends. Block if desired.
