Twisted Cable Knit Hat Pattern

This pattern features a stunning twisted cable design for a cozy winter hat.

Materials

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (UK Aran) in your choice of color, approximately 150 yards (137 meters)
• Needles: US 8 (UK 6) 16-inch circular needles, US 8 (UK 6) double-pointed needles
• Cable needle

• Stitch marker

Gauge

18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

Pattern

Ribbing

1. Using circular needles, cast on 88 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist.
2. Round 1: *K2, P2; rep from * to end of round.
3. Repeat round 1 for a total of 2 inches (5 cm).

Main Body

1. Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) and knit for 4 inches (10 cm).

Decrease

3. Round 3: *K1, K2tog; rep from * to end of round.
4. Round 4: Knit all stitches.
5. Round 5: K2tog around.
6. Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight, and secure.
