Fasten off, leaving a 15 cm (6 inch) tail for weaving in.

### Optional Star (Make 1)

**With yellow/gold yarn:**

**Row 1:** Ch 2, work 5 dc into 2nd ch from hook, do not turn.

Working in continuous rounds, pull first st up slightly to create a point, slip stitch into top of first dc to create a star point.

**[Ch 3, slip stitch into top of next dc] 5 times** to create 5 star points.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing to top of tree.

## Finishing

### Weaving in Ends
1. Thread each yarn tail onto a yarn needle
2. Weave tails through several stitches on the wrong side of the work
3. Weave in opposite direction for security
4. Trim excess yarn close to work

### Optional Edging
For a neater finish, you may work a round of double crochet evenly around the entire tree, working 3 dc into each corner point to prevent curling.

**Edging round:** Join green yarn at bottom left corner of trunk, ch 1, work dc evenly up left side of trunk, continue up left side of tree to top point, work 3 dc into top point st, work dc evenly down right side of tree and trunk, work across bottom edge of trunk, slip stitch to first dc.
