## **MATERIALS**

- **Yarn:** 900 (1000, 1200, 1350, 1500, 1650) yards worsted weight yarn
- **Needles:** US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles, 16" and 32" lengths
- **Notions:** 6-8 buttons (¾" diameter), stitch markers (4 in contrasting colors for raglan lines), tapestry needle, removable stitch markers

## **GAUGE**

18 sts and 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on US 7 needles

## **PATTERN NOTES**

- This cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down using raglan construction
- Increases are worked every other row at raglan lines

### **YOKE**

Using 16" circular needle, cast on 54 (58, 62, 66, 70, 74) sts.

**Set-up Row (WS):** K3 (button band), p6 (8, 10, 12, 14, 16) [left front], pm, p1 (raglan marker), pm, p10 (10, 10, 10, 10, 10) [left sleeve], pm, p1 (raglan marker), pm, p18 (20, 22, 24, 26, 28) [back], pm, p1 (raglan marker), pm, p10 (10, 10, 10, 10, 10) [right sleeve], pm, p1 (raglan marker), pm, p6 (8, 10, 12, 14, 16) [right front], k3 (button band).

**Row 1 (RS):** K3, *k to 1 st before marker, m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L; rep from * 3 more times, k to last 3 sts, k3. (8 sts increased)

**Row 2 (WS):** K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.

Repeat Rows 1-2 until you have 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33) raglan increase rows completed, ending with a WS row.

**Stitch count after increases:** 238 (258, 278, 298, 318, 338) sts total
- Left front: 29 (33, 37, 41, 45, 49) sts
- Left sleeve: 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) sts
- Back: 64 (70, 76, 82, 88, 94) sts
- Right sleeve: 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) sts
- Right front: 29 (33, 37, 41, 45, 49) sts
- Raglan markers: 4 sts

### **SEPARATE SLEEVES**

**Next Row (RS):** K29 (33, 37, 41, 45, 49), place next 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) sleeve sts on holder, cast on 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14) underarm sts, k64 (70, 76, 82, 88, 94), place next 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) sleeve sts on holder, cast on 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14) underarm sts, k29 (33, 37, 41, 45, 49).

**Body stitch count:** 130 (148, 166, 184, 202, 220) sts

### **BODY**

Join to work in the round, placing marker for beginning of round at left side seam.

**Round 1:** Knit all sts.

Continue in stockinette stitch (knit every round) for 13 (13.5, 14, 14.5, 15, 15.5)", or desired length to bottom edge.

**Ribbing:**
**Round 1:** *K2, p2; rep from * around.

Continue in 2x2 ribbing for 1.5".

Bind off in pattern.

### **SLEEVES** (make both the same)

Place 56 (58, 60, 62, 64, 66) held sleeve sts on 16" circular needles.

Pick up and knit 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14) sts from underarm cast-on, pm for beginning of round.

**Total sleeve sts:** 60 (64, 68, 72, 76, 80) sts

**Rounds 1-6:** Knit.

**Decrease Round:** K1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. (58, 62, 66, 70, 74, 78 sts)

Repeat decrease round every 8 (8, 7, 7, 6, 6) rounds 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) more times.

**Final sleeve sts:** 42 (44, 46, 48, 50, 52) sts

Continue even until sleeve measures 15.5 (16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18)" from underarm.

**Ribbing:**
**Round 1:** *K2, p2; rep from * around.

Continue in 2x2 ribbing for 1.5".

Bind off in pattern.

### **BUTTON BANDS**

The button bands are worked as you knit - the first and last 3 stitches of every row form the bands.

### **BUTTONHOLES**

Mark placement for 6-8 buttons evenly spaced along right front band, with the first ½" below neck edge and the last ½" above bottom edge.

On the next RS row when you reach a marked button placement:

**Buttonhole Row (RS):** K1, yo, k2tog, continue in pattern.

## **FINISHING**

### **NECKBAND**

With RS facing and 16" circular needle, pick up and knit 54 (58, 62, 66, 70, 74) sts along neck edge.

**Row 1 (WS):** K3, *p2, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

**Row 2 (RS):** K1, yo, k2tog (buttonhole), *k2, p2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

**Row 3:** K3, *p2, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

**Row 4:** K3, *k2, p2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

**Row 5:** K3, *p2, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

Bind off in pattern.

### **FINAL ASSEMBLY**

1. Weave in all ends
2. Block to measurements
3. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes
