## TENSION (GAUGE)
14 htr and 10 rounds = 10cm (4 inches) in half treble crochet worked in continuous rounds

**Rnd 4:** Ch 2, htr in same st, htr in next 2 sts, [inc in next st, htr in next 2 sts] around, sl st to top of ch-2. (48 htr)

## FINISHING

1. Weave in all loose ends using yarn needle
2. Gently steam block if desired, being careful not to flatten the texture of the back loop band
3. Allow to dry flat

## DESIGN NOTES

The back loop only band creates a distinctive raised ridge that adds visual interest and helps the hat maintain its shape. Working in the back loops only for three rounds creates a fold line that naturally curves around the head.

## SIZE MODIFICATIONS

**For a smaller size (child/teen):** Work crown increases to Round 6 only (72 sts), then continue with pattern as written.

**For a larger size:** Add one more increase round: Ch 2, htr in same st, htr in next 6 sts, [inc in next st, htr in next 6 sts] around, sl st to top of ch-2. (98 htr), then continue with sides section.

## CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Hand wash in cool water with wool detergent. Reshape whilst damp and dry flat away from direct heat.
