## Men's Intarsia Elephant Sweater Pattern

### Materials
- Yarn weight: DK
- Main Colour (MC): A neutral shade such as grey
- Contrast Colour (CC1): A bright shade for the elephant (e.g., blue)
- Optional Contrast Colour (CC2): For additional details (e.g., tusks or eyes, white or black)
- Needles: 4mm circular needles, length at least 80cm
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers

- Intarsia bobbins (optional)

### Tension (Gauge)
- 22 sts and 30 rows = 10cm (4 inches) in stocking stitch

### Finished Measurements
- To fit chest sizes: S (M, L, XL, XXL) = 91 (102, 112, 122, 132) cm [36 (40, 44, 48, 52) inches]

### Instructions

#### Body (Top-Down Construction)
1. **Cast On:**
   - With MC, cast on 228 (256, 284, 312, 340) sts. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the sts.
   - Place marker (PM) to denote the start of the round.

2. **Ribbing for Collar:**
   - Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 5cm (2 inches).

3. **Yoke and Raglan Increases:**
   - **Row 1 (RS):** k1, [kfb, k to 1 st before marker, kfb, SM] to end.
   - **Row 2 (WS):** k all sts.
   - Repeat these two rows until there are 300 (328, 356, 384, 412) sts.

4. **Separate Sleeves and Body:**
   - Transfer the sleeve sections to stitch holders: 
   - k47 (53, 58, 66, 73), place next 60 (64, 68, 72, 76) sts on holder for sleeve, cast on 8 (8, 12, 12, 16) sts for underarm, k90 (98, 104, 110, 116) for front, place next 60 (64, 68, 72, 76) on holder for sleeve, cast on 8 (8, 12, 12, 16) sts for underarm, k remaining sts.

5. **Join for Body:**
   - Continue working in the round, using MC, until body measures 25 (27.5, 30, 32.5, 35) cm from the underarm, or desired length.

6. **Intarsia Chart Placement:**
   - Switch to the intarsia chart when the front panel is even with the underarm. Follow the intarsia chart provided for the specific elephant design, incorporating CC1 and CC2 where indicated.
   - Once the chart is completed, continue in MC until body measures 68 (70, 72, 74, 76) cm in total length.

7. **Hem Ribbing:**
   - Work k1, p1 ribbing for 5cm (2 inches).
   - Cast off loosely in pattern.

#### Sleeves
1. **Transfer Sleeve Stitches:**
   - Transfer sts from the holder to needles, pick up and knit 8 (8, 12, 12, 16) underarm sts.
   - Join MC and PM for start of round: 68 (72, 80, 84, 92) sts.

2. **Sleeve Shaping:**
   - Work in stocking stitch for 10cm (4 inches).
   - Decrease Round: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. Work 1 round without decreases.
   - Repeat these two rounds every 8th round until you have 48 (52, 56, 60, 64) sts.

3. **Cuff Ribbing:**
   - Continue until sleeve measures 48 (50, 52, 54, 56) cm or desired length.
   - Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 5cm (2 inches).
   - Cast off loosely in pattern.

#### Finishing
- Weave in all ends.
- Block to measurements to open up the intarsia design and even out stitches.

#### Intarsia Chart
- See attached chart for the elephant motif. The chart should be read from bottom to top, right to left on RS rows and left to right on WS rows. 

> **Tip:** If you want more definition, consider outlining the elephant motif with a simple chain stitch using a contrasting colour after completion.
