Willow Tree Sweater Pattern

Pattern

Raglan Increases

Using the crochet hook, make a provisional cast on of 8 stitches (this will be the underarm). Remove the crochet hook and pick up the stitches with the circular needle.

Setup Round: K2, place marker, K1, place marker, knit until 2 stitches remain, place marker, K1, place marker, K2

Round 1 (Increase Round): K1, ty, knit to marker, ty, SM, k1, sm, ty, knit to marker, ty, SM, k1, sm, ty, knit to marker, ty, SM, k1, sm, ty, knit to marker, ty, SM, K1, ty, knit to end of round

Repeat Increase Round every alternate round a total of 7 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) more times. Note: For 2XL and 3XL sizes, only work increases until there are a total of 32 stitches between markers.

Body

Continue working in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) until the body measures approximately 11 (11, 12, 12, 13, 13, 14) inches from the underarm.

Lace Pattern for Willow Tree Branches

Row 1 (Right Side): K2, *p2tog, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2

Row 2: Purl all stitches

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 of the lace pattern until the lace section measures approximately 4 (4, 4.5, 4.5, 5, 5, 5.5) inches.

Ribbing

Switch to smaller circular needles.

Round 1: *K2, p2; repeat from * to end of round

Repeat Round 1 for approximately 2 (2, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 3, 3) inches.

Bind Off

Bind off all stitches in pattern. Weave in all loose ends and block your sweater to measurements.

Finishing

Sew the underarm stitches closed using the mattress stitch. Weave in any remaining loose ends.
