1. Using long tail cast on, cast on 108 stitches.
2. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 inch.
3. Begin basketweave pattern:
4. Row 1: K4, P4, repeat across the row.
5. Row 2: Purl all stitches.
6. Row 3: P4, K4, repeat across the row.
7. Row 4: Purl all stitches.
8. Repeat these 4 rows for basketweave pattern until piece measures 14 inches.
9. Shape armholes:
10. Next row (RS): K24, slip next 40 stitches onto stitch holder, cast on 4 stitches, knit to end.
11. Next row (WS): Purl all stitches.
12. Continue in pattern until armhole measures 8 inches.
13. Shape shoulders:
