30 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch
One size fits most (women's shoe size 7-9)
Cuff: Using brown yarn, cast on 64 stitches and join in the round. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1 inch.
Leg: Change to white yarn. Knit in stockinette stitch for 6 inches.
Squirrel Motif: Follow chart below to knit squirrel motif in black and white yarn:

Repeat squirrel motif around the leg of the sock.
Heel Flap: Using brown yarn, work back and forth on 32 stitches in stockinette stitch for 2 inches.
Heel Turn: Row 1: K18, SSK, K1, turn. Row 2: P5, P2tog, P1, turn. Repeat these 2 rows until all stitches are worked. 20 stitches remain.
Gusset: Pick up and knit 16 stitches along the edge of the heel flap. Knit across instep stitches. Pick up and knit 16 stitches along the other side of the heel flap. Knit half the heel stitches. Place marker for beginning of round.
Foot: Knit in stockinette stitch until foot measures 2 inches less than desired foot length.
Toe: *K1, SSK, knit to 3 stitches before next marker, K2tog, K1, slip marker; repeat from * on other side. 4 stitches decreased per round. Repeat until 32 stitches remain. Then, decrease every round until 8 stitches remain. Graft stitches together using Kitchener stitch.
Weave in all ends and block the socks to shape.
