Description:

This pattern will guide you through creating a cozy long-sleeved baby hoodie, perfect for little ones aged 3-6 months. The hoodie is knitted from the bottom up for a seamless finish.

Materials:

Gauge:

Using 5mm needles in stockinette stitch: 18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches

Directions:

  1. Back:

    2. Using 4.5mm needles, cast on 50 stitches. Work in 2x2 ribbing for 1 inch.

  2. Switch to 5mm needles and stockinette stitch. Work until back measures 5 inches from cast on edge.
  3. Shape armholes:

    4. Bind off 4 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each end of the next 2 rows. Continue in stockinette until armhole measures 3 inches.

  4. Shoulder shaping:

    5. Bind off 10 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining stitches.

  5. Front:

    6. Work as for back until armhole measures 2.5 inches.

  6. Shape neck:

    7. Work across first 15 stitches, place remaining 20 stitches on holder. Decrease 1 stitch at neck edge every other row 3 times. Work even until armhole measures same as back.

  7. Shape shoulder:

    8. Bind off 6 stitches at neck edge once. Bind off remaining 10 stitches when armhole measures 3 inches.

  8. Sleeves (Make 2):

    9. Using 4.5mm needles, cast on 28 stitches. Work in 2x2 ribbing for 1 inch.

  9. Switch to 5mm needles and stockinette stitch. Increase 1 stitch at each end every 6th row 5 times. 38 stitches.
  10. Work even until sleeve measures 7.5 inches from cast on edge.
  11. Shape cap:

    12. Bind off 4 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each end of every other row 10 times. Bind off remaining stitches.

  12. Hood:

    13. With right side facing, pick up and knit 40 stitches along neck edge. Work in stockinette for 7 inches. Bind off.

  13. Finishing:

    14. Sew shoulder and side seams. Set in sleeves. Sew hood to neckline. Weave in all ends. Block as desired.
