Pattern

  1. Cuff:
  2. Cast on 64 sts, divide evenly on 3 needles and join in the round. Place marker at beginning of round.
  3. Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 15 rounds.
  4. Leg:
  5. Work cable pattern over 16 rounds:
  6. Round 1: *k2, p2, c4f, k4, repeat from * to end.
  7. Rounds 2-16: Repeat Round 1.
  8. Heel Flap:
  9. Row 1: *sl1, k1; repeat from * to end.
  10. Row 2: sl1, purl across.
  11. Repeat Rows 1-2 for a total of 32 rows.
  12. Turn Heel:
  13. Row 1: K19, ssk, k1, turn.
  14. Row 2: Sl1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn.
  15. Row 3: Sl1, k to 1 st before gap, ssk, k1, turn.
  16. Repeat Rows 2-3 until all heel sts have been worked, end with RS facing.
  17. Gusset:
  18. Pick up and knit 18 sts along heel flap, using a new needle, work across instep sts, pick up and knit 18 sts along other side of heel flap. Place marker for new beginning of round.
  19. Round 1: Knit to 3 sts before instep marker, k2tog, k1, k across instep sts, k1, ssk, knit to end of round.
  20. Round 2: Knit even.
  21. Repeat Rounds 1-2 until original stitch count is reached.
  22. Foot:
  23. Knit even until foot measures approximately 2 inches shorter than desired length.
  24. Toe:
  25. Round 1: *K1, ssk, knit to 3 sts before next marker, k2tog, k1, repeat from * to end.
  26. Round 2: Knit even.
  27. Repeat Rounds 1-2 until 32 sts remain.
  28. Finishing:
  29. Graft toe sts together using Kitchener stitch.
  30. Weave in ends and block as desired.
  31. Repeat for second sock.
