Leaf Increase:

Switch to white yarn.

  1. Row 1 (RS): K2, M1R, knit to last 2 stitches, M1L, K2 (12 stitches).
  2. Row 2 (WS): Knit.
  3. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 three more times (20 stitches total).

Leaf Decrease:

Switch back to green yarn.

  1. Row 1 (RS): K2, K2tog, knit to last 4 stitches, SSK, K2 (16 stitches).
  2. Row 2 (WS): Knit.
  3. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 three more times (8 stitches total).

Finishing:

  1. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  2. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle and gather the remaining stitches onto the needle.
  3. Stuff the stem and leaves with polyester fiberfill stuffing.
  4. Sew the gathered stitches at the top of the stem to close it.
